Just go with it

Aright so, the first picture is of the mushroom that we found growing behind my work building. It is commonly known as a fly agaric or Amanita muscaria by its scientific name. It's a bit larger than my hand spread out. I began thinking, that this fungus seems familiar. Then I remembered several examples during my childhood, and it all came together! According to wikipedia it is "..famed for its hallucinogenic properties". Which makes complete sense, as during the entire series of the Smurfs there were a total of 3 female smurfs...yet the male smurfs never questioned this?! It is because they sustain a constant high as a result of living in these mushrooms. Then we move to Mario; ah Mario, such a sad life that we never even realized. although here again there were plenty of signs, if only we cared enough to take action and maybe set up an intervention or something. So what happens when he eats the mushroom? He gets LARGE, strong, and fast. Does that sound logical? and why is he always so aggressive? Paranoid even? Well here is my hypothesis; none of that ever happened! we were just a witness of what happened in his mind. I mean..hes a plumber, not the most exciting of jobs, and who wants to date a plumber? I can't imagine they come home smelling like roses. thus the motivation to escape reality and hide in a world that your best friends name is Toadstool and you are always trying to save Princess Toadstool. As I see it, hes just a casualty of his circumstances. So, if you see me in the future and my eyes are glazed over and I act a little funny...don't worry its just that the pink elephants won't leave me alone and i'm a little worn out.

GateCon

It has begun! 8 days till I embarrass my family by dragging them to another country so that I, (not them) can attend GATECON 2008! whoohoo! I suppose the only saving grace in the eyes of my little sister is that I will not be dressing up as anyone but the nerd that I am. Should be a blast for every one though, as they will get to do some sightseeing and such while I am sequestered.

How to lose 7lbs in 1 day!

Don't! just don't! I know that all 2 of you reading this are like "Well it's about time!, this guy can't be consistent for anything!" Well..I don't care what you think! I was going to update yesterday but then the power went out, and I took it as a sign that you are all whiners!
Anyway, now that the hostile part is over, I want to comment on an interview that I heard on NPR (I like to listen to people I don't know talking while I drive over hill and yon for work). So this guy found the perfect diet! and all you have to do is become some sort of athlete like this guy who is a shot-putter (someone who puts shot). He said that because of his "raging metabolism" he thinks he lost around 7lbs by only eating peanuts on a flight. But don't worry about him..he said he made it all back after 6 full meals in one day. Ahh the good ol' days of childhood and apparently shot-putters.

So, you want to lose 7 lbs in one day too? good for you, just run out to the nearest sports store and pick yourself up a nice 16lbs shot put if your a guy and 8.8lbs one if yer a gal, and get out there and may the hernias begin!

full store can be found at NPR.

ComiCon

No this is not a convention for communist..Matt and I got up early today and headed up to the Seattle convention place to attend the Emerald City Comicon. Following our oh so trusty GPS navigation system we only circled the block 2 times in order to find the right entrance for parking. (Sometimes, I can hear the dissapointment in her voice as she tell me to make this turn or that, and then finally says, "Turn around when possible". One day I may turn it on and have her refuse to speak to me..oh well, its not as if I'm new to breaking hearts.) Anyway back to the issue at hand, the place was packed with fun and interesting people. The majority of the room was filled with people selling comics(who'd thunk it), and other paraphernalia. There were several stars from scifi shows and movies, and several members from the 501st(see pic with Matt Fett and Me). Matt also got a signed photo of the kid who played Boba Fett in Episode II(hes not much of a kid any more, we was a pretty cool guy). That was pretty much it, we came home and relaxed. Oh..and we ate subway there.

Cashew

This pretty late coming, but here is a picture of our newest "Cashew" (the nickname Matt gave to the baby, cause Paige is our peanut). The due date is Nov 29 2008, and we are very excited to add one more sweet leaf to our family tree. We have been taking weekly pictures of Rach and will set a gallery soon so everyone can follow along with us and their progress.

Speed Seizures

After the enjoyable ward dinner, Matt and I caught a 9:45pm showing of Speed Racer. Matt has 3 words to describe this movie "Off the Hook". Hmmm, I will probably have to come up with a cool fun rating system for shows that I watch but for now I'm just gonna have to say that most people are not gonna like this show. There is a lot of action, and even though this is based off of an old cartoon, and made to be humorous, on several parts it was above and beyond the silly factor. Now, I want to make this clear, I HATE CRITICS! I feel that everyone has different tastes and that make the world a better place. That being said, watch at your own risk, this follows a very anime type flow and feel(lots of bright colors and flashing lights). Regardless, if it looks interesting to ya, by all means please go and enjoy, just getting out and hanging with my brother was fun enough to over come any cheesy scenes.

Swingin #2

Well this really happened yesterday so...really its party day 1.5. We had the ward cooking competition, and it was broken into main coarse, side, and dessert. With help from Rach and Matt we were able to pound out the egg rolls after I got done with work. Might I just make a disclaimer here that I should have been the winner! We made a ton of those suckers and not a flake was left, many people were not even able to partake of these ambrosia that were rolls. But, sadly I was denied my rightful place(I received the honor of second place, notice my trophy above)..only 365 days till next time! on a side note, the overall competition was Elders against High Priest(High Priest having won the last several years). With subdued pride, I confess that I might have played a small part in the Elders victory over the High Priest!

Party Day #1

Yesterday my brother Matt came to visit us from Cali, first activity of the non-stop party trip; a production from the Tumwater High School of Little Shop Of Horrors, I found that the play version of this classic is a little bit darker than then the '86 version with Rick Moranis. The high school did a great job, however the sound could have been a little louder, as it was often hard to hear the actors singing above the background music.

Tonight our ward is throwing a Mothers Day cook off. The men of the ward will be having a cooking competition judged by the ladies...I will be bringing my WORLD FAMOUS HMONG EGGROLLS! ya they are that good, worth every cap.

And tomorrow, Matt and I will be going to the Seattle ComicCon, sadly I just learned that Adam Baldwin from the Fire Fly series will not be attending! Rest assured Adam will be receiving some very strong grumbling from us!

Iron Man

My first real post is gonna be a movie review. I was treated to a movie by my loving, sweet, kind, caring, wife Rachel, on Friday May 2nd. Awesome! The first comic inspired movie to be released by the new Marvel Studios was a fantastic start for them. The casting was great, Robert Downey JR. was the perfect choice for Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. This movie had a great balance of action along with character development that kept your attention without causing seizures from overly stimulated adrenalin glands. This is a must see, and if you don't like it..well, thats ok, to each their own, and by "own" I mean flea infested, commy loving, freedom hating, weirdo.

Number 1

I don't need to explain how a "blog" works to anyone that I imagine will be reading these posts, as I'm sure there will be a total of 3;

  1. Me, trying to raise my page visit count,
  2. Some guy that randomly falls through a black hole and happens to come across it, and
  3. Those annoying comment spammers that will leave comments regarding my great financial luck in being pre-approved for historic low interest rates. Whoo hoo!
regardless, this will contain my simple musings from my day to day life.
